I am currently teaching college courses at Oxnard and Moorpark Colleges in the VCCCD.  I am also a lecturer in Philosophy at California Lutheran University.  My email is dthiel@vcccd.edu

Moorpark College Online Philosophy Course. This course began as a televideo course in 1999.  It transitioned into an online course in the summer of 2010..  I generally teach this online course and a regular classroom course in the Fall, Summer and Spring at Moorpark College.  The Online course uses various distance learning strategies and the syllabus is available at the link marked Moorpark Online Course.  Students enrolled also receive instructions for accessing their course shell in Desire2Learn under "my courses" in their VCCCD portal.

Oxnard College PACE program.  I have had the pleasure of teaching philosophy classes in the PACE program since its inception in 1999.  I have developed two "hybrid" courses that combine distance learning AND classroom instruction.  Although the PACE program is no longer offered in its entirety, these hybrid courses have survived.  In the fall I generally teach an Introduction to Philosophy course and in the spring I have a Critical Thinking course.  These courses have a classroom component one night a week, however, the Saturday meet time is generally online.  For specific information regarding the current semester click onto PACE.  These particular hybrid courses are only offered at Oxnard College.
